My name is Cindy and I’m a realitytvholic

I have decided to change up my blog and switch to a topic that I am more than familiar with, in fact I am addicted to, and hopefully I will find some other addicts like myself that will drop by daily to share their thoughts.

I am 43 years old and am coming out of the closet. I am a reality tv junkie. I watch reality shows that are geared for young kids, teenagers and adults.

I watched the first episode of the first season of The Real World back in 1992 and I have been hooked on Reality tv since. That to me, is the beginning of modern reality tv shows. I hated Puck. I was disgusted that he picked his nose and used that same finger to dip in the peanut butter. I couldn’t imagine what a pretty girl like Rachel could see in him. I was shocked and enlightened to be brought into the life of Pedro. I never personally knew anyone gay, or anyway that I knew to be gay. I was thrilled when Puck got voted out. I was saddened at the death of Pedro. Funny the same Puck I hated, I found myself rooting for when he and David went at it on the Real World Road Rules Battle of the Sexes in 2003.

I have seen every episode of Survivor, starting with the first season where I endured the nakedness of Richard Hatch (who did win), rooted like crazy for ex Navy Seals Rudy Boesch, couldn’t decide if I liked or didn’t like outspoken Susan Hawk, who I decided I definitely didn’t like when she returned for Survivor All-Stars, but I was entertained by her snake and rat speech.

Among these two of my favorite reality shows I also enjoy some others that are highly rated or some that not many have even heard of, Big Brother, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Biggest Loser, Real World Road Rules Challenges, American Gladiator, Super Nanny, The Contender, I Know My Kids A Star, Joe Schmo, The Mole, Nashville Star, Nanny 911, Paradise Hotel, Temptation Island, Trading Spaces, Fear Factor, and the list goes on and on

There are even a few highly rated reality tv shows that I don’t watch like Amazing Race, Last Comic Standing, Dancing with the Stars, and the Bachelor.

I am even guilty of watching some of the ‘not so real” reality shows like Laguna Beach and it’s spin off, The Hills. Even though I know they are scripted and I get disgusted by how obvious the scenes and conversations are staged, like a bad soap opera, I still tune in to see what happens.

I look forward to blogging on these and other Reality shows. Some blogs will be to provide highlights but I also want to explore some of the behind the scenes, little known facts and secrets of reality tv.
